Lolz: The Beginning

July 7th, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I started chronicling ridiculous comments that people would post in response to animal rights driven stories and letters to the editors. Most animal rights activists are put in the precarious situation of not being able to say what they truly want to say because we are handcuffed by the images that will be projected back unto us, the authoritarian, the self righteous zealot, the preacher, the fascist, etc. Although I try my best to recognize that these shifting goal posts are more often then not an avoidance tactic, I still can’t bring myself to really give some comments the tongue lashing they deserve. Spurned on by a post tonight on Ted Leo’s blog, I thought what better time to bring those comments I had been chronicling public and allow fellow vegans to share their comments and uninhibited responses. FTW!!!! So may see this as a low blow, especially those who disagree with a certain Let the Meat Meat blog, but all comments will remain anonymous and if there is any request to pull a post down, or for the party involved to add to it, I will act accordingly.

This gem comes in response to an article praising a BBQ fundraiser that was co-ordinated in response to an animal cruelty case that occurred at a local petting zoo. Those who questioned the logic behind fundraising off the backs of animals (literally) were immediately met with a barrage of insults. This one is one of my favorites because it contains just about every single dumb knee jerk response to animal rights, all rolled into one. You have your reducing every activist to PETA; the “love” of bacon; the “right” to eat meat; fanatical vegan preachers; plants with central nervous systems; animal protein as the only complete protein, all this and he also uses the word “bequeathed,” which always makes me laugh. Also, it really makes me wonder how many of our ancestors ate at Swiss Chalet? Get ready for some lolz!

I love eating bacon, for example, but only now & then, not daily…love munching on hot dogs too….that is my right in a free & democratic society…I don’t appreciated PETA-type animal-rights fanatics preaching to me that I should only eat veggies (what don’t vegetables suffer pain when you snatch them out of the ground & eat them later???)& lay off meat (which provides me with the necessary complete protein)…an all vegetarian diet is incomplete & unhealthy. I love going to Swiss Chalet with my family and making a meal of chicken & potatoes…yummy…an old-fashioned meat & potatoes meal…that is what our ancestors ate & they bequeethed a great society for us to enjoy.
