“Til Every Cage is Empty” T-Shirt Fundraiser Begins!

December 20th, 2010

To Whom It May Concern,

Say hello to our little friend. Welcome to our third t-shirt fundraiser.

We started doing t-shirt fundraisers for the show/site a little over a year half ago. In that time we had a sweet cat design (now our old logo) that raised $300 for Niagara Action for Animals Spay/Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP) and also a sweet Dragnet inspired design from Tom Neely that raised $500 for the Ruby Ranch Pig Sanctuary.

A lot of thought and help went into this new design. I had the idea of using the Gorilla Biscuits Gorilla for some time but wanted to contact the band to get to the ok. That is where a huge thank you goes out to Andy Stepanian and then also to Arthur Smilios. Andy got me in touch with Arthur and Arthur and the rest of the GB were very supportive. A huge thank you also goes out to Dr. Josh Hooten for putting me in touch with Matt Guack, who in turn pumped out one of the best t-shirt designs I have ever seen. (Everyone should use Matt for design work. Get at me for a contact).

The funds from this design will be going to the Storybook Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland, On (Canada). Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary provides a safe and permanent home for primates retiring from biomedical research, zoos, universities & private residences, or wherever there is a primate in need of a permanent home. Twice now I have seen the director Sherri Delaney talk about the primates in her care and I know she is someone who is extremely dedicated to these animals and also extremely dedicated to ending their use as commodities. I am very happy to be raising funds for them.

As for specifics about these shirts, for the first time we will be printing this set of shirts on Just Shirts T-Shirts. These are fair trade shirts made by a co-operative in El Salvador. The perfect shirt may never exist, but we are working towards pumping out high quality fundraiser shirts that are conscious of social justice and the environment.

The presale for this shirt starts right now. Shirts can be made in any size and are available in either black or white. Cost is $20, with $10 from each shirt going to Storybook Farm. We will be printing a month from today, January 20th and shipping soon after. Paypal $20 to theveganpoliceradio@gmail.com to secure your order (S&H is on the honour system for you to cover after we ship). As with all of our t-shirt fundraisers we only do a one time print and move on. This will be the first time we will are printing 100 shirts instead of 50, so we are also hoping to up our grand total to $1,000! I know patience is a virtue that most of us lack these days, but for those who pre-order you will also be getting a bunch of free stuff (stickers/buttons/pins/leaflets/zines, etc) with your order. The upfront costs for the shirts also come directly out of pocket and this pre-order will help make sure that isn’t such a big chunk.

Huge thank you to everyone who has ever bought a previous t-shirt through us, as well to anyone who has supported the show. It means a lot us and your support makes fundraisers like this possible. ALSO BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO REPOSTS THIS LINK!

Show the world that “you have compassion for all living things!”

xo,

Dylan

UPDATE: We have had an issue with the black shirts that we got back from the printer and we are working hard to get that resolved. We are hoping to have that situation resolved in the next 1-2 weeks and have the black shirts to send out. Very sorry for the problem, but there isn’t much I could do about it. Thanks for the patience and understanding! – FEB 6 2010

UPDATE #2: Our black shirts have been re-printed and fixed! They are ready to order and ready to ship! Heck yes! – MARCH 9 2010

UPDATE 3#: WE ARE COMPLETELY SOLD OUT! FOREVER!

NEW FUCKING SHIRTS!

April 7th, 2010

Vegan Dragnet fans, your prayers for a t-shirt have been answered! A GIANT thank you goes out to Tom Neely who did the design for us. I suggest everyone check out his work and his comics! When I gave him the idea for the t-shirt and the fundraiser I wasn’t expecting something so fitting. Dragnet: started out as a radio show! The term Dragnet means “a system of coordinated measures for apprehending criminals or suspects,” hey, that sounds exactly like a coordinated network of Vegan Police officers! How about an easily veganized tagline! Best of all, the show Dragnet actually improved the perceptions of police officers among the general population (we aren’t really that stoked on people loving cops, but hopefully our show helps improve perceptions of animals and the people who love them!).

Our first t-shirt fundraiser raised $300 for Niagara Action for Animals Spay Neuter Initiative Program (S.N.I.P). This time, to match the design, we are sending $10 from EVERY shirt to Sherry, Bob and all the pigs at Ruby Ranch Pig Sanctuary in Mount Forest, On. We suggest you head over to their site and read some of the bio’s, look at some of the beautiful pictures and help out any way you can!

Shirts are $20 CAD, and currently we have white Mens and Women’s shirts in Medium and Large sizes (we have more sizes/colours coming so don’t fret, just let us know). All shirts are American Apparel, so please use their sizing chart.

I want to send a huge thank you out to Josh Hooten and Kelly Twomey, both were very helpful in pointing us in the right direction when it came to design and where to send the funds. Also, big thank you to Kyle, Isaac and Biff at Pedal Printing! I feel very proud saying that my t-shirts are printed by a guy who has a vegenaise tattoo on his thigh!

For anyone who wants a shirt, get in touch with us at theveganpoliceradio@gmail.com or send funds over paypal to that same address. We WILL ship internationally, but if you are outside of North America, you have to be really really patient. All shipping and handling costs are on the honour system and you will have to cover them after we ship.

xo,
Dylan/Crista/Ryan and Co.
